The obscure, difficult-to-pronounce chemical ingredients that make up polycarbonate, such as Bisphenol A and Phosgene, actually derive from petro-chemical processes that involve the burning of coal, crude oil, or natural gas.
Nonrenewable oil and gas (upon which our vast depots of petroleum-based products rely) was formed over 106 million years in the Carboniferous and Permian periods — a mere 2.3% of the earth’s long geological history.
